The Planning Department offers information and assistance in land development activities by administering the Zoning Ordinance and by processing requests for Conditional Use Permits, Variances, Subdivisions, Rezoning Requests, etc. It ensures that regulations are met and that the quality of life and heritage of the community are retained.
Mission Statement:To provide guidance and services to those who propose land development activities in a manner that enhances the opportunities for the success of those activities while ensuring the intent of the regulations are met. To provide the community and City Council with the planning tools to evaluate the most effective means to implement their goals and objectives.
Goals and Objectives:
- Ensure that potential applicants for land development projects are fully informed about requirements of city ordinances regulating such activities.
- Thoroughly review development proposals to ensure that quality development is approved efficiently.
- Work with other jurisdictions to coordinate common development issues.
