Building Department
Jeff Kurka, Construction Manager/Building Maintenance Coordinator
The Building Department is responsible for regulating building activities to ensure that residential and commercial structures comply with applicable building codes and city ordinances. It processes building permit applications and annual contractor license applications, and handles nuisance and code violations. The Board of Review assists the Building Department by reviewing building ordinances and new contractor license applications, by reviewing complaints against contractors, by considering updates to the building codes, and by mediating disputes between contractors, citizens, and the Building Department. The Board of Review, appointed by the City Council, is comprised of seven volunteers from the local construction industry and they meet (tentatively) once each month.

To promote positive growth and development by enforcing the codes adopted by the city, which provide minimum standards to safeguard life, limb, health, property, and public welfare by regulating and controlling design, construction, quality of materials, use, occupancy, location, and maintenance of all buildings and structures within the City of Cripple Creek.Goals and Objectives:
- Encourage land development by increasing customer services, including simplifying and standardizing processes for applications/permitting and reviewing applications expeditiously.
- Promote quality of life and safety by strengthening code enforcement and compliance with all city ordinances.
- Provide assistance and direct support to city building facility directors in maintenance and construction needs.
