The Economic Development Department manages funding resources for local businesses to access. It garners funding for city projects and participates in marketing partnerships and cross-marketing opportunities. Click on the links below for recommended plan elements or call for more information. Mission statement:
To assist in the diversification and development of a healthy economy for Cripple Creek. Goals and objectives: Garner funding for city projects; writing grants to offset costs of building and developing new venues and projects. Continue developing marketing partnerships and cross-marketing opportunities with selected venues for the Heritage Center; helping form strategic alliances with city council members and staff. Recruit a doctor, dentist, hygienist, pharmacist, physical therapist and optometrist for the Medical Center and assist in the retention of land for the center; communicating with prospective providers and reporting information back to the city council; researching and providing necessary data and demographics to potential providers, and evaluating land opportunities. Help ensure the recruited doctor has contracts with pertinent carriers in the region. Design an American Military History Museum; developing articles of incorporation, bylaws and other necessary documents; filing the documents for a 501c3 designation; recruiting board members and committee leaders, and coordinating that group's meetings. Review all business plans submitted to the city that request Economic Development funds; creating a business plan review panel; coordinating all meetings with applicants; counseling applicants on business plan development; submitting applicants' plans and financial statements for loan evaluation; generating reports, findings and panel opinions for city council; working with Finance Department to facilitate loan funding, and targeting a number of new businesses based on the progress and development of the Heritage Tourism component of the community. Present council a list of businesses that offer local services and businesses that offer tourism support. Develop a multi-occupant commercial space to house community services and recruit the businesses to fill that space; working with local investors and looking for businesses that fit the needs of the community. Pursue funds for feasibility studies for that business recruitment project. Create and distribute business-specific recruitment material to include demographics and projections. Ensure the community is given information on business and development. Locate an original Cripple Creek locomotive.
